Joel Adams : Except for music/books, ecosystem is overrated.
Joel Adams : No one uses 95% of their apps. And very few (useful ones) have lock-in.
Joel Adams : And they both have the same 2 apps (and I like the PlayBook).

Joel Adams : Seems like the last time I looked at Yahoo's homepage it was on Netscape and it had a grey background :)
Blacklightjdr : no kidding, though I do agree about flickr, I would love to see it come back up again and work with the most recent stuff
Carmi Levy : Joel: Ha! Good one....Can you even USE Netscape anymore without exposing your machine to a viper's nest of malware?
Joel Adams : But yeah, they do have lots of sub-brands that I use and often forget that they are Yahoo.
Joel Adams : I bet if you could use Netscape 1.0 it would be the safest browser on the planet (except exposure to <blink> tags)

Joel Adams : Interesting that media literacy seems to be higher among commenters than prof. journos.

Joel Adams : I think they assume that the professionals & experts have done that digging, which is why I still place more blame there.

Joel Adams : The lawyer thanks them for the homage, says it's okay to sell the infringing items in stock, then offers to help pay costs to change the design of the book cover.
Joel Adams : Enforcing copyright shouldn't translate to being a jerk.
Blacklightjdr : being a search engine is not about enforcing copyright, its about providing a service, same like IP's shaping bandwidth, its their job to provide the service, not to say what we can and can't do with

Joel Adams : I really really want twitter to make money, because I like the service. I worry more about them not making money than by promoted tweets etc.

gorf18 : The problem I have is Apple has stolen many ideas in the past
Joel Adams : I think they are doing okay actually. But no one really knows for sure. So I worry they'll just shut down tomorrow.
